Hearing the phrase “the Bar Next Door” prompts many mind boggling questions about the paradoxes in our existence but in fact it’s just the name of one of New York City’s most intimate jazz clubs. Over the past years I’ve heard many of my musical heroes at this West Village landmark and I’m very happy to announce that I’ll be performing there with my trio on March 6 and 13. We will be playing just one set each night, at 6:30 pm. I will be joined by Petros Klampanis (6th) and Sam Anning (13th) on bass and Colin Stranahan on Drums. For directions, it’s right next door.

Our concert at the Czech embassy in Washington D.C. got a great review on examiner.com. The music, inspired by Dvorak, is composed by saxophonist Charley Gerard and we will play the same program on October 5th at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.

This Saturday i’ll be playing with self-proclaimed trumpet non-legend Howard Brofsky in the waterfront neighborhood Dumbo. Howard’s been around for a long time and actually saw Charlie Parker play on 52nd street back in the day! It’s always a pleasure to play with him, plus there’s going to be a great rhythm section featuring Petros Klampanis and Jason Burger. There will be opportunity to sit in at the 2nd set so musicians bring your nose flutes and mouth harps!

I finally uploaded some new tracks to my website. They’re from a demo recording I did this january with Johannes Weidenmueller and Colin Stranahan at Trout Recording. It was great fun to work with these guys and to record in a studio that has a ton of vintage amps, microphones and tape machines. Click the audio section to hear them. I’m excited to be playing with a totally fresh trio this thursday the 13th at the Domaine Wine Bar in Long Island City. This place has the best wines and cheeses in the city and happens to be right in my neighborhood. The band features Shawn Conley on bass and Shawn Baltazor on drums. I decided it was time to renovate my website, so here it is. It’s much simpler (and cheaper) than my previous one, and I’ll try to keep it up to date this time! I also posted some transcriptions I did, some of them over 5 years old, so there might be some mistakes here and there. Stay tuned for more and for new audio!
